My wonderful husband celebrated his 36th birthday this past weekend (May 31st technically) with his 2 favorite girls (me and Mikayl) on Saturday and his fmaily on Sunday (we celebrated with my family last week). We started Jefferson's birthday off the way he loves, sleeping in until 11am! We love to sleep in and have lazy mornings drinking coffee in our pajamas, reading, checking email etc. We kept talking about how nice it will be to that in our new house. We have so many dreams to make that house our home. (And I can't wait until some of you will take advantage of our extra bedrooms and come for a Utah visit! Hint, Hint!) Then we spent the afternoon with Mikayl swimming, going to dinner at one of his favorite restaurants, Famous Dave's BBQ, and going to the Rock church for an evening of worship music. (Steele and his wife Kim had 2 new songs they wrote and performed for the first time and wow, they blew us away. They are so gifted! We can't wait til they are available on CD.)
It just warms my heart to see the father-daughter relationship between Jefferson and Mikayl. They had a different relationship when she was young but since Jefferson's life has changed he doesn't take his time with her for granted. They have the sweetest, silliest times together. She seems to love it when he points out that she takes after him with some physical features as well as common interests. She is always saying how much she likes being like her Daddy and will be just like him when she grows up. He is so humbled to know that she looks up to him like that. We always tell him he is our hero, which was the theme of his birthday card this year. Mikayl likes to sit and admire his features, like his ever-changing facial hair, tell him how cute he is, and look at all his childhood battle wounds. When she and I both attack him with kisses and tell him how cute he is, he gets so embarrassed, its so funny. We love doing that to him. I love my little family. We can't wait to add to it. It is a common topic of conversation. We often talk about adoption regardless of our own abilities to conceive a baby.
Oh yeah, a moving update! We will be moving into our house on Saturday June 21st. We have rented a big truck for the move. Jefferson may not be able to get off that whole day from work, so we may have to start loading up the big stuff around 1pm or 3pm. I will start early on in the day though with the little stuff. We have the truck until Sunday anytime because they're not open that day. We should be able to get it all in one trip because we don't actually have that much stuff. Any help from any of you would be greatly appreciated!
